This Week...

I hope you all had a great weekend!  We ended the day on a high note when we went to an assembly led by Ms. Owens about ROCKing the MEAP!  The students loved walking into the assembly to "We will, we will, rock you!" Students were very encouraged to do their best work and persevere with hard work and they will be rewarded.  There are several opportunities this week and next as we have testing over many days to be a golden ticket winner and have chances to win even McDonald's gift cards!  They were very excited.  As Ava and Ainoi learned from her, it is very important to go to bed on time and also come ready to school well fed and ready to learn!  Being to school on time this week and next is key as most testing will take place in the AM and some in the PM.  We will not go to library tomorrow since we will be testing during that time.  I have rescheduled our checkout time for this week until Friday so that it does not interfere with the testing times.  Please feel free to send gum for the test days, realizing that there are no drinks or snacks allowed.  Please also allow your child to take a favorite book or two from home so that if they finish testing early, they will have some material ready to read!  I am excited to have them show what they learned last year.  The results will be helpful in seeing where we need to go this year.

We took our Unit 1 Math test today.  There was no math homework sent home since we took the test today.  The next unit will not be started right away because of our testing schedule.  Look for some parent letters to be sent home soon when we begin unit 2.  For the nights with no math homework, please continue to encourage you child to read each night.  They all should be taking their baggie books back and forth daily and they are meeting with volunteers to read them some of their book as well as retell their story.

I added our calendar to the tools for our blog just as an outline as to where we will be daily.

Thanks so much for partnering in your child's education!Kayleen
