Many of the students (and parents) have asked what we are doing Friday for Christmas. We had a chance earlier in the year and we voted to not do the ornament crafts with the PTO this year, the students wanted to do something different. I had mentioned to them the possibility of having a market day to make some $ for possible field trips , but, then thought that the message of "making money for us" didn't seem to fit into the holiday spirit and the joy of giving.
We, instead, have offered our services (of reading) to other classrooms at Glerum. We are going to take Christmas books into the rooms and read with the students for 15-20 minutes at the choice time of their teachers. This giving back and helping out project seemed much more fitting than the economics lesson.
We will need your help by sending in any Christmas books that you have that would be suitable for your child to read to K-3rd graders. I have at least 2 books for each student, but ,they are mostly K-1st grade level. Please have your child bring them to school with them Friday and they will take them home after school.
We will of course play a game or two as well. Feel free to send in pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. if you would like to spoil them :). Please email me if you would be willing to help out with a game and/or drinks for the snack time. We already have the snack taken care of.
Thanks,
Kayleen
